We finished up mental math and are launching into money! This is a great unit to study at home and throughout your day with your child. Right now we're focusing on coin value and identification, and counting money. Next week we will continue on this skill and then work on comparing money amounts.
Reading
We are going into theme 11 this week. We have been reading lots of literature that teaches us about the impact of many important African-American men and women as we study Black History Month!
Writing
We have started poetry and have been studying alliteration, rhythm, and rhyme. Students brought home their poems and posters this week that they are using to create their poetry posters. (Some are choosing to memorize and present instead of making a poster) These are due March 1st!
