Hey there! I am so excited to teach, learn, and grow with your kids this year! It's going to be a great one. As the parents of my students, I want you to always feel comfortable contacting me for any reason! I can be reached at: [email protected]. I'm available through email or Class Dojo at any time.
My Educational Background I graduated Illinois State University in May of 2015 with a Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education and most recently completed my Master's Degree in Teaching in Learning in the Summer of 2018. I have endorsements in Educational Technology, Reading, Language Arts, and Social Sciences for the K-9 grades and this is my fourth year teaching second grade at RES. My Philosophy of Learning I believe that all children, regardless of background, have the ability to learn and absorb information in a variety of learning styles. Because of this belief, I think instruction should take place in a way that encourages those diverse learning styles. In my classroom, it’s okay to not have all the answers because that means we have the opportunity to explore and research, pushing us to collaborate and think from different perspectives. I believe the classroom environment should give students choice as to how they learn best and facilitate an atmosphere where every child feels valued, loved, safe, listened to, and important. My Personal Life I am married to my dear husband, Brice, of four years. We are renovating our home together (quite the adventure!), and love hosting gatherings in our home, traveling the world, and enjoying the mundane moments of life together. We are expecting our first child in early February and could not be more excited for this new adventure as parents. Dunlap Curriculum Our second grade curriculum follows the Common Core State Learning Standards and the Next Generation Science Standards. Find our detailed ELA Scope and Sequence HERE.
