Math
We are continuing to work on addition up to 1,000. We just entered regrouping this week and are practicing regrouping the ones and tens as we add! As of now, we are planning on having our Chapter 2 math test next Friday (9/25), but we will see what our progress looks like next week.
Science
WE HAVE LARVAE! This week each student got their very own larva (caterpillar) to monitor and observe as it transforms into a pupa and then a beautiful butterfly. They each get to be entomologists as they record data and care for their caterpillars. Fingers crossed they are ready to form their chrysalis on Monday! :) (I completely forgot to take pictures of the kids with them this week, I'll try to put out a post on Monday or Tuesday with them!)
Writing
We are continuing our Personal Narrative and are getting into the drafting stage.
Reading
We finished up Theme 2 today and are beginning a whole new theme/topic on Monday! We are diving into SPACE...
Important Info:
- Today a paper was sent home about bringing your own rock to school. Within the next 2 weeks, students may bring in a rock (no larger than their fist) to paint and decorate in Art class to add some decor to our RES outdoor classroom!
- Next week there will be a numbers assessment in Spanish that will take place at the end of the week. I forwarded all parents an email from their Spanish teacher with information on studying at home.
- Reminder: Students may bring a snack to school in the mornings. There is quite a bit of time between the time we get to school and the time we have lunch, so please try to remember to send in a snack for your child. We try to encourage kids to bring a somewhat healthy snack, so please try to avoid hostess snacks, chips, brownies, etc.
- If you have not turned in field trip money yet ($11), please send that in as soon as possible so we can get it submitted. :)
- Our September Reading/Math Calendar is due in TWO weeks! Please be reminding your children to be getting their reading and math minutes in during your evenings.
Here's a snapshot from our Mystery Reader today.. One of our students got to have her mom come in on her birthday and read a birthday book! She had a birthday to remember! Thanks for being our Mystery Reader this week, Mrs. Flanagan! The kids loved having you!
