MATH
We finished up Chapter 6, Multiplying by 2s, 5s, and 10s, this week and took the test today. We will be starting up chapter 7 next week, which is Metric Measurement and Length.
Reading
We are halfway through Theme 9 and talking a lot about voting, elections, and leadership. The reading skill we've been learning about this week is making connections. We make text to text connections, text to self connections, and text to world connections while we read. Practice this skill while you read at home!
Writing
After reading A Fine, Fine School, Mr. Jefferson told us he was inspired by it and wants to consider going to school on the weekends and all summer*! (oh no!!!) UNLESS, 2K, 2G, and 2L can convince him otherwise by writing him a persuasive letter. ;) The kids love write when they are passionate about the topic, so these letters ought to turn out great! We're currently in the middle of writing those.
*This is not actually being considered. It it simply a way to get kids excited and motivated to write.*
Science/Social Studies
We have been learning a bit about dental health and why and how we take care of our teeth.
