After reading this, please take a minute to sit down and flip through the packet I sent home with your child yesterday detailing how this will work!
We're doing a "flipped classroom" approach, meaning students will watch the instructional videos at home each week and practice, then do extra practice in the classroom. The purpose behind this is to not only increase their technology skills, encourage responsibility and time-management, but to also have MORE time to practice at home that they wouldn't have time for in the classroom. The videos are normally 10-18 minutes long and students need time to pause and practice, so please allow 30 minutes (minimum) per week for this at home. You can break it up by doing one or two letters a night, or do it all in one. Whatever you choose, it must be completed and practice pages must be returned by THURSDAY of each week. The weekly cursive blogpost will be sent out on Fridays, so they will have six days to complete the checklist below.
Each week your child will:
1. Watch the entire cursive instructional video
2. Practice on paper WHILE watching/pausing the video, then bring in that practice paper by Thursday. This MUST be done on the lined paper I send home.
3. Leave a comment on our weekly cursive blogpost. (Comment can be: their favorite letter, toughest letter, a question, etc.)
Students who complete that checklist above ON TIME each week will get to participate in an ICE CREAM PARTY!
*I've included in your information packet writing paper you can copy/use at home. I will have some available at school as well for your child to take home on Fridays, too.
*If your child does not have internet access at home, please let me know as soon as possible so we can arrange an accomodation.
Here is week ONE! Get your pencil and paper ready! Don't forget to have your child leave a comment below when they're finished!
