We have started TIME this week! Students have learned the parts of a clock, which zones belong to each hour, the difference between the hour and minute hand, and how to read the minutes on a clock. This is a skill that's very practical to practice at home, and we encourage families to have their child practice regularly! We'll be continuing learning to tell time next week. Check out the Resources tab of the blog above to see a variety of online learning games for telling time!
READING
Our mentor text next week will be Rosie Revere, Engineer by Andrea Beaty. This is a favorite of Mrs. Knapp's! We'll be spending two weeks exploring not only Rosie Revere, but the other two texts in this series by Andrea Beaty: Iggy Peck, Architect + Ada Twist, Scientist. We'll be practicing describing characters, investigating character actions/responses, and looking for rhythm and rhyme in a story.
WRITING
We've completed our personification poems!! Students performed in front of 1st, 2nd, and 5th grade classes and did AWESOME! Be sure to have them perform them for you when they take them home today! We're starting nonfiction research next week.
SCIENCE
We're watching our mealworms turn to beetles. The students will also be learning about different habitats throughout the month of March! We're also going to begin growing brassica seeds to learn about the needs of plants (hopefully starting next week).
