Students will jump into subtraction WITH regrouping next week! We'll talk about regrouping in the tens and ones, and then the hundreds and tens. This is a very abstract skill, so we'll be starting with lots of concrete practice using manipulatives.
READING
Our mentor text next week is Stellaluna by Janell Cannon. Through this mentor text, we'll be studying making connections and sequencing events.
To promote sharing our reading at home, I've created a grid on Flipgrid HERE for our class!
Students can create a short video showing off a book they're reading. It could be a book from my library or the RES library, or even a book from home or your local library. ANYTHING they're reading!
Students should be sure to share the following in their videos:
1. Title, Author/Illustrator
2. Summary
3. Rating (out of 5 stars)
Then, students are free to click an emoji reaction to each other's videos. Please show this Emoji Reaction Guide to your child FIRST. :) I can't wait to hear about all the amazing reading your child will do this year! Let's fill up that Flipgrid!
WRITING
Next week we will begin our Opinion Writing unit! We have many fun activities in place to learn how to opinion write.
