MATH
This week we learning about using greater than, less than, and equal to in order to compare numbers. We also focused on ordering numbers from greatest to least and least to greatest. Next week, we are going to be practicing and applying these skills, including place value, to higher-order thinking problems. Our first math test over place value, comparing numbers, and ordering numbers will be at the end of next week.
READING
Next week are digging into the text The Salamander Room and learning about imagery while we read (or making images in our heads).
We also just finished our chapter book read aloud, Fantastic Mr. Fox! Ask your child to summarize the book for you! 2K rated it 5 stars on our GoodReads page.
WRITING
We are learning about the writing process and how writers create a published piece from start to finish. We also focused on how to give feedback to our peers in helpful ways.
NEXT WEEK:
Spelling Pattern: -ail, -ay, -ain
Sight Words: must, name, together, I'll, round
Grammar Focus: adjectives
IMPORTANT NOTES:
- School dismisses at 11:15 on Wednesday for our SIP day.
- Students will bring home a "book in a bag" each week. They are to keep it at home and read it (at least 3x--we're working on fluency) by the following Friday. Then, they take an AR test on it. Students who pass their picture book quizzes continually will move onto taking home chapter books each week, if they're ready.
- I placed a Scholastic order this morning, so if you ordered your child will receive their books within a week!
- Please send in $12 in form of cash or check for your child's field trip money. Include your child's name and "field trip money" on the outside of the envelope. We are planning to take two trips, one to the Hult Center and the second is TBD.
- Please fill out THIS FORM if you haven't yet.
- Congrats to 2K on an amazing Fun Run, and thank you to the PTO for organizing the event and supporting RES! ♥
